This course will train the successful student in the skills necessary to respond to a diving emergency. It is designed specifically for public safety dive teams and professional divers. It is the Dive Medical Technician course without chamber operations. Medical and non-medical dive team members are encouraged to attend.

Prerequisites : First Responder / EMT / Paramedic or Equivalent

Topics Include:

1. Physics and Physiology of Diving
2. Decompression Sickness
3. Cerebral Arterial Gas Embolism
4. Barotrauma
5. Other Diving Related Injuries

Skill Stations:

1. Patient Assessment
2. Neurological Assessment
3. Advanced Airways
4. Chest Decompression
5. Trauma

Skill stations and scenarios utilizing mannequins and each other. You will           perform patient assessments, needle decompression, wound care and hemorrhage control with tourniquets and hemostatic gauze.
